The sentence followed his conviction on charges of organization of criminal grouping, attempted crime and killing.

Justice Mirzosharif Hojiboyev, who took in the trail, told Asia-Plus that investigation had proved that Bakhtiyor Jurayev joined the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan in May 2008.  “He was working under the direction of activists of the IMU cell in Isfara Abdurahim Umarov, also known as “Said,” and Abdukholiq Boboyev, also known as “Usto,” the judge said.

“Jourayev was working as driver for them and performing some other missions,” said Hojiboyev.  “Thus, on April 17, 2009, Umarov, Boboyev and Jourayev attacked Major Boir Yuldoshev, an officer from the Isfara police department.  They shot three times at him and escaped; Major Yuldoshev sustained serious wounds and became disabled for life.”

According to Hojiboyev, Bakhtiyor Jourayev was detained by Isfara traffic police officers on August 19, 2009.  “His supervisors were also in the car but they managed to escape,” the judge noted.
