DUSHANBE, December 28, Asia-Plus — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is due to pay visits to Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in early January, the Iranian envoys to the Central Asian countries said, Iran’s Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.
Ahmadinejad will pay a visit to Turkmenistan on January 5-6, Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mohammad Reza Forqani told FNA.
During his visit to Turkmenistan, Ahmadinejad will sign several documents on development of bilateral relations, Forqani said. Iranian president will also attend the opening ceremony of the second pipeline that will deliver the Turkmen gas to Iran, he added.
Ahmadinejad will pay a visit to Tajikistan January 6-7, Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali Asqar Sherdoust told FNA.
During his visit, the president is expected to meet with the Tajik officials. The officials of two countries are expected to sign agreements on cooperation in various fields, as well as to mull a joint investment projects between Tajikistan and Iran.
It is to be noted that It will the third Iranian president’s official visit to Tajikistan
