KHUJAND, January 25, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Resident of the town of Ghafurov, the administrative center of the Bobojonghafurov district in Sughd province, has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

According to the Sughd police directorate, a 34-year-old Matniyoz Rahimov, who has previous conviction for theft, was detained on January 24 while trying to push 430 grams of heroin to police officer who acted as “conventional buyer.”  “Rahimov asked US$1,900 and 7,000 Russian rubles for the narcotic drug,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Rahimov under the provisions of Article 200, Par 2 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under war.
