KHUJAND, February 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The case of two members of criminal ring, suspected of abducting the son of known Khujand entrepreneur last August, has been remitted to the Chkalovsk prosecutor’s office for further examination.

The trial of the 26-year-old resident of Khujand Haidrjon Isroilov and the 26-year-old resident of the Qistakoz jamoat in Sughd’s Bobojonghafruov district Ikromjon Vohidov began in the Chkalovsk city court on January 12 and lasted till January 28 this year.

Ms. Manzoura Mahmadova, chairperson of the Chkalovsk city court, told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon that Isroilov and Vohidov are charged with preparation for crime and attempt crime (Article 32), abduction (Article 130), thefts (Article 244), and car theft (Article 252).  Three other members of this criminal group are placed on the internationally wanted list.

“This criminal group was going to abduct sons of three known entrepreneurs from Khujand and Kyrgyzstan’s Leilek district,” Ms. Mahmadova said.

She noted that they abducted the son of the Khujand entrepreneur on August 26, 2009.  They were holding him in basement in one of neighborhoods of Chkalovsk, demanding 100,000 U.S. dollars in ransom from his farther, however, the hostage managed to escape, the judge said.

Three other members of this criminal ring, whose names are not disclosed in interest of the investigation, are currently wanted by police.  “Among them is Turkish national, who could be the perpetrator of the crime,” Mahmadova noted.
