DUSHANBE, February 23, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Afghan drug trafficker has been detained in Gorno Badakhshan.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), a 23-year-old Afghan national, Mamadjon waladi Gharibmamad, was detained near the village of Yakhsholi in the Ishkashim district, Gorno Badakhshan on February 22.  750 grams of hashish were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.

In the meantime, the body of unidentified man was found in the agricultural field of the Azizbobo Farm in the Gulkhona jamoat, Sughd’s Jabborrasulov district yesterday.  Postmortem examination found 16 wraps of narcotic drug that was tested positive to heroin weighing 238 grams in his stomach.  The man died when one of the wraps of drugs he ingested burst, the source said.  Investigation to identify the man is under way.
