DUSHANBE, March 13, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajik banking system’s assets rose 23.4 percent, or 1.48 billion somoni, in the year to January 31, 2010, reaching 7.81 billion somoni, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).
Assets of banks of and credit societies have amounted to 5 billion somoni, assets of non-banking financial organizations have amounted to 2.36 billion somoni and assets of microfinance organizations have amounted to 0.46 billion somoni.
Balance capital of Tajikistan’s credit institutions (banks, credit societies, non-banking financial organizations and microfinance organizations) rose 28 percent in the year to January 31, 2010I, reaching 1.24 billion somoni. As of January 31, 2009, balance capital of the country’s credit institutions amounted to 970 million somoni.
As of January 31, 2010, balance capital of banks of and credit societies amounted to 1.08 billion somoni, balance capital of non-banking financial organizations amounted to 0.005 billion somoni and balance capital of microfinance organizations amounted to 0.16 billion somoni.
As of March 1, 2010, 13 banks, six credit societies, one non-banking financial organization and 118 microfinance organizations have functioned in the country, Tajik central bank said.
