DUSHANBE, March 16, 2010, Asia-Plus — Over the first two months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of 1.1539 billion somoni (equivalent to some 265 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistic under the President of Tajikistan.
Compared to January-February 2009, the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 115 percent.
Industrial products worth 768.7 million somoni were delivered in January-February 2010, 97 percent of the volume of products produced over the report period.
Of the 82 basic types of industrial products the output of 41 items (50 per cent) increased, and the output of 25 items (30.5 percent) decreased over the report period.
In January-February this year, 321 enterprises, or 39.3 percent of the overall number (816), were not in operation
A 36.9 percent increase was reported in the fuel-and-energy sector, which produced 217.1 million somoni worth of products over the report period. In January-February 2010, Tajikistan produced 2.851 billion kWh of electrical power, 46,600 gigacalories of heat energy, 3,400 tons of black coal, 5,200 tons of brown coal, 4,000 tons of oil and 4.6 million cubic meters of natural gas.
