DUSHANBE, March 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik society suffers great loss with death of Muhammadsharif Himmatzoda, Muhiddin Kabiri, leader of the Islamic revival party of Tajikistan (IRPT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

He noted that Mr. Himmatzoda had done a lot for reestablishment of peace and accord in Tajikistan and development of self-consciousness of the Tajik people.  “I would like to mention his role in the achievement of compromise between the different points of view in our society,” said Kabiri, “His publications and thoughts promoted harmonization of relations between religion and state in Tajikistan.”

“His wisdom and foresight always helped us find solution to many difficult problems,” the IRPT leader stressed.  “What he did for reestablishment of peace and accord in the country and development of Islam in Tajikistan will remain in people’s memories forever.”

We will recall that Muhammadsharif Himmatzoda, spiritual leader of the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), died in Dushanbe today morning aged 59 after a long illness.
