Davlat Nazriyev, a spokesman for Tajik MFA, says the purpose of the visit is for the CSTO secretary general to discuss with Tajik officials preparations for the upcoming CSTO summit scheduled for June this year.

Today morning, Bordyuzha was received by Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi.  The two discussed issues related to interaction within the Organization, providing regional security in Central Asia and the present situation in Afghanistan.

During his stay in Dushanbe, the CSTO secretary general is also scheduled to hold talks with Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Shukurjon Zuhurov, Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev and the Security Council Secretary Amirqul Azimov.

Bordyuzha will also attend a roundtable meeting entitled “The System of Collective Security in the Central Asian Region: Prospects until 2015” that will take place at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on March 27.

Organized on an initiative of the CSTO Secretariat and Tajikistan’s Security Council under support from President Emomali Rahmon, the meeting is expected to bring together political scientists, experts and representatives from institutes for political studies and think tanks of Tajikistan.

The CSTO now groups Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
