KHUJAND, March 27, 2010, Asia-Plus  — By March 26, physical and legal entities of Sughd province have bought shares in open joint-stock company (OJSC) NBO Roghun for a total of 191 million somoni, according to the Sughd regional commission for supporting construction of the Roghun HPP.

Residents of the Bobojonghafurov district and the city of Khujand alone have bought shares in Roghun for 32.325 million somoni and 30.615 million somoni respectively, the source said.

To raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP the government started to sell shares in Roghun to people on January 6 this year.  Tajikistan has reportedly issued 6 billion somoni (US$1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares.
