DUSHANBE, March 27, 2010, Asia-Plus — On Friday March 26, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Shukurjon Zuhurov received visiting Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha.
In the course of the talks, Tajik speaker noted that the new parliament of Tajikistan will do all that is in its power to strengthen a role of CSTO in the region aimed at providing security and stability in the region, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said.
For his part, Mr. Bordyuzha noted that role of Tajikistan in strengthening and developing the Organization was very positive and important. “Tajikistan is an example for some member nations of the Organization in terms of ratification of documents adopted within CSTO,” said the CSTO secretary general, “To-date, Tajikistan has ratified 8 of 12 main agreements adopted within the Organization.”
The CSTO now groups Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
