DUSHANBE, March 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Over the past two days, gasoline prices in Dushanbe have rose on average more than 7 percent.

The price of one liter of 92-octane gasoline in Dushanbe has risen from 3.20 somoni on March 27 to 3.40 somoni (more than 6 percent rise), with similar price rises in other parts of the country.  In the meantime, some Dushanbe’s refuel stations now realize the 92-octane gasoline at 3.50 somoni per one liter (more than 9 percent rise).

The refuel station owners attribute the price hike to fuel shortages.

Meanwhile, Ms. Gulchehra Mahmoudova, chairperson of the shipment department within Tajik Railways, told Asia-Plus today that Uzbek officials have allowed 119 cargo cars carrying fuel to move into Tajikistan since March 23.  “57 cargo cars loaded with aviation kerosene, 30 cargo cargos loaded with gasoline and 32 cargo cars loaded with diesel fuel, have now arrived in Tajikistan,” Ms. Mahmoudova said.
