DUSHANBE, March 31, 2010, Asia-Plus — The biggest in CIS and the only in Central Asia aluminum plant – the Tajik Aluminum Company – marks its 35th anniversary today.

The first ever aluminum bar was produced by the Tajik aluminum plant in March 31, 1975 – the day when the powerful giant of the country’s industry with production capacity of 517.000 tons of aluminum per annum started to operate.

On April 3, 2007, the Tajik aluminum plant (TadAZ) was renamed by the government to the state unitary enterprise Tajik Aluminum Company.

The first foundry of the company has produced an anniversary bar with “35 years” inscription on it, the company told AP. Senior officials of the company will award the plant’s workers at today’s solemn event. The company is also planning to launch a new production unit to produce dairy products.

According to Talco, in 2009 the company has produced more than 360.000 tons of high-quality primary aluminum. Last year the company paid 200.4 million Somoni in taxes and 458.4 million Somoni for electricity. Even despite the global financial crisis and 10% reduce in aluminum production, the company’s revenue in 2009 made $6 million.

Supporting the President’s initiative on the construction of Rogun hydropower plant, the company purchased shares worth $8 million. The company is planning to purchase more Rogun shares worth $25 million.
