DUSHANBE, April 16, 2010, Asia-Plus — Hospices (palliative care centers) referral for incurable TB patients will be set up in Tajikistan, Deputy Health Minister, Sohibnazar Rahmonov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, establishment of such facilities is provided for by the TB prevention program designed for 2010-2015.

“These palliative care centers are dedicated to protect people against contracting tuberculosis,” said the deputy minister, “Such facilities will be set up in the cities of Qurghon Teppa and Kulob, as well as in Sughd province and the Roudaki district.”

“There are still a few incurable TB patients in Tajikistan and these hospice hospitals are established to provide them constant care if their relatives are not able to do this and protect social surroundings against contracting the disease,” Rahmonov stressed.
