KULOB, May 11, 2010, Asia-Plus — A tent city for disaster-hit people has sprung up at the Kulob central stadium today.

According to Abdukraim Nematov, the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob, local banks are to organize hot meals for people sheltered in this tent city.

“Police, firefighting and first aid posts have already been set up in the tent city and the disaster-hit people have been receiving hot meals from local central market and the Badakhshaon restaurant,” Nematov said, adding that local banks have also organized hot meals for people involved in the cleanup operation.
