DUSHANBE, May 14, 2010, Asia-Plus — Some 80 delegations, including 57 those from member nations of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as delegations from observer countries and international organizations (totaling some 800 people), will attend the 37th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the OIC Member States that will take place here from May 18-20, Davlat Nazriyev, the head of the Tajik MFA information department, announced at a briefing in Dushanbe on May 13.
The upcoming Council of Foreign Ministers is expected to discuss political and economic issues as well as problems of fighting international terrorism. President Emomali Rahmon will address the 37th Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States, the MFA spokesman said.
Taking into account difficulties with flights from some member nations of OIC to Tajikistan, the Organization will organize charter flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) a day before the session starts.
Tajikistan joined the Organization of the Islamic Conference in 1992.
The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations. It groups 57 member states, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkans, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America (Guyana and Suriname).
