Dushanbe. June 23. “Asia-Plus” — Situation with blockage of Tajik freight wagons on the territory of Uzbekistan has significantly improved as Iran notified Uzbek rail officials, representative of the Economic Section of the Iranian Embassy in Tajikistan Abbos Baeni told the AP.
He said Iran has mainly notified Uzbek rail officials of unreasonable blockage of nearly 227 freight wagons loaded with products of Iranian manufacturers, including equipment for construction of Sangtuda-2 hydropower plant, which destined to Tajikistan.
“Our businessmen suffer serious losses due to unreasonable blockage of their wagons on the territory of Uzbekistan since the delay affected the quality of their products. Additionally, this delay hampers the ongoing construction of Sangtuda-2 HPP,” Baeni said.
He said that almost all freight wagons with cargoes designed for construction of Sangtuda-2 HPP have been released and Uzbek rail officials have eased their position regarding the transit of freight wagons loaded with products of Iranian businessmen.
Turning to the transit of Tajik freight wagons through the territory of Uzbekistan, Iranian diplomat expressed hope that this situation will be settled within the nearest time.
