Dushanbe. June 24. “Asia-Plus” — Grain crop harvesting campaign gains strength in Tajikistan as dekhkan farmers cropped harvest from nearly 40,000 hectares. This is 16,6% of the total amount of grain crops (more than 296,000 ha) planted this year.

Thus, farmers have cropped a total of 103,400 tons of grain crops, Tajik Ministry of Agriculture told the AP. This is 20,000 tons more as compared to the same period last year. According to the source, average production of grain crops per one hectare of cropland makes 26,5 metric centners.

A total of 441 units of agricultural machinery are engaged in the campaign. The source added that farmers have cropped wheat from 47,000 ha so far. This is 19,2% or more than 101,000 tons.

Farmers of Khatlon area have cropped 87,400 tons of wheat (130,000 ha planted to wheat, harvest cropped from 40,000 ha), dekhkans of RRS cropped nearly 2000 tons (60,100 ha planted, harvest cropped from 1,600 ha), and more than 15,600 tons cropped in Sughd area (83,600 ha planted, harvest cropped from 8000 ha).

296,693 ha have been allocated for grain crops last year, including 246,245 ha for wheat. A total of 463,000 ha have been planted to grain crops last year. Last year’s harvest reached record index of 1,3mln tons.
