DUSHANBE, July 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A grain-harvesting campaign is progressing in Tajikistan and farmers have produced 412,700 tons of cereals, including 365,600 tons of wheat, from 181,500 hectares to this day, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

Average grain yields have been 2.51 tons per one hectare, the source at a MoA said, noting that 365,600 tons of wheat have been produced from 155,400 hectares.

553 agricultural machines have been involved in this year’s grain-harvesting campaign, he added.

This year, Tajik farmers have planted cereals on 321,000 hectares, including 246,000 hectares sown with wheat.

Last year, grain growers planted cereals on 463,000 hectares and produced 1.3 million tons of cereals.
