Young lawyers in Sughd help prepare disabled children for school

KHUJAND, August 30, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Khujand-based Association of Young Lawyers (AMPRO) has conducted charitable action, Help Prepare for School, to support children with physical disabilities in Ghonchi district, Sughd province.

Ms. Khursheda Rahimova, a lawyer with AMPRO, told Asia-Plus Saturday afternoon that residents of Khujand have brought pens, notebooks, pencils and drawing books to the AMPRO office in Khujand.  “We have already collected all necessary things for more than 50 children with physical disabilities in Ghonchi,” Rahimova said.

According to her, such children do not attend school not only because of their physical disabilities, they do no attend schools also because of financial problems in their families.

“The action is going on actively and we hope to collect school essentials for disabled children from other districts of the province as well,” the lawyer said.
