DUSHANBE, September 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik athlete Dilshod Nazarov with 236.02 scores now stands first in the world hammer throw rankings, Maliksho Nematov, the head of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, told Asia-plus Thursday afternoon.

According to Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), Dilshod Nazarov has won 14 medals (six gold, five silver and three bronze medals) in various international tournaments since the beginning of this year.

Dilshod Nazarov is currently being trained for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Continental Cup in Split, Croatia.  Dilshod will represent Asia in the IAAF Continental Cup in Split that will take place from September 4-5.

The IAAF Continental Cup (formerly known as the IAAF World Cup) is an international athletics competition which comprises track and field events. It is the only world cup contested by teams representing entire continents, rather than just those of individual nations.  The event now takes place every four years. It used to consist of separate men”s and women”s competitions. Generally, eight teams take part in each – five continental and three national.  If the host stadium has an extra lane, the host nation may also enter a team.
