DUSHANBE, September 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday September 16, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi received Mr. Struan Stevenson, Euro MP also Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Ecology and Environment.

According to the MFA information department, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union, environmental protection, safety of nuclear waste dumps, water-and-energy problems in the region, regional security and cooperation.  The two also considered a number of international issues being of mutual interest.

Tajik minister drew Stevenson’s attention to the Afghan problems, pointing to the necessity of creating necessary conditions for development of Afghanistan’s economy and expansion of cooperation in that direction, the MFA information department said.
