KULOB, October 1, 2010, Asia-Plus — The first 45 conscripts from the city of Kulob were sent to serve in the armed forces today.
“They go to serve in the army on a voluntary basis,” the chief of the Kulob military registration and enlistment office, Colonel Burikhon Mirzoyev, said, noting that it is 25 percent of the city’s autumn conscription target.
We will recall that an autumn conscription campaign was launched in Tajikistan today and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
