DUSHANBE, February 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday 1, Mr. Yoshihiro Nakayama, Chargé d’Affaires, the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe, Mr. Mahmadullo Qosimov, chief specialist with of the department for health, women and family of President’s Executive Office, and Mr. Umar Tohirov, the head of the Republican Dental Research Center, attended a ceremony of handover  of modern dental equipment at the Dental Center in Dushanbe.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe, the Government of Japan has granted US$ 86,703 for “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment to the Dental Center in Dushanbe”.

In the framework of this project, the Republican Dental Research Center has been equipped with a wide range of new medical machineries such as dental drilling machine, digital orthopantomograph and anesthetic machine, which enable the center to provide quality medical service to people with dental problems.

The Republican Dental Research Center is the only medical institution in Tajikistan, which is specialized for stomatologic services.  Congenital malformation of face is a wide spread deformity which forms 30% of all congenital anomaly. The adequate and continuous treatment is vital to overcome this symptom.  Provision of new equipment to the Dental Center plays a key role for ensuring full treatment of people with face defects in this specialized center.

The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) provides support to projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  The GGP is provided to local governments, NGOs, and educational and medical institutions in developing countries.  The GGP has extended more than US$ 18.4 million for 258 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan since 1996.
