DUSHANBE, February 3, 2011, Asia-Plus  — During the first phase of the operation, dubbed “Passport,” 15,600 apartments and houses home to more than 210,000 people have been inspected in Dushanbe, according to the Dushanbe police directorate.

“Over the first fifteen days of the operation, ten criminals wanted by police have been detained and 41 crimes have been solved in the city,” said the source, “Besides, administrative action has been imposed on more than 640 people that are living in the Tajik capital illegally.  Among them are 25 foreign citizens.”

According to him, two assault rifles Kalashnikov and one Makarov pistol have been seized in the operation to this day.

We will recall that the operation, launched in Dushanbe on January 15, is aimed at revealing Tajik nationals from other regions and foreigners living in Dushanbe illegally, without appropriate registration or residence permit.  According to the Dushanbe municipal authorities, one of objectives of the operation is also in revealing unauthorized use of housing stock in Dushanbe by visiting citizens.

The raids are made by representatives from the law enforcement agencies and other relevant government bodies.
