DUSHANBE, February 3, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Customs officers seized totaling nearly 880 grams of heroin at Dushanbe and Khujand airports on February 2, the source at the Customs Service said.

The 28-year-old L. was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing during inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight.  The drug peddler had ingested 87 wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing nearly 500 grams.

On the same day, inspection of passengers on the Khujand-Kazan flight found 380 grams of heroin hidden in soles of shoes of one of passengers.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both drug pushers and an investigation is under way.
