KHUJAND, February 4, 2011, Asia-Plus — More than 53 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Sughd province last month, which is 29 kilograms more than in January 2010, Nasim Olimov, head of the information analysis department of the Sughd regional body for combating drug trafficking, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, a totaled included more than 43 kilograms of hashish, nearly one kilogram of heroin, and nine kilograms of other narcotics.

37 criminal proceedings on drug charges were instituted in the province last month, Olimov added.
