DUSHANBE, February 9, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Two alleged drug pushers were arrested in Jomi district, Khatlon province on February 8, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

“Two residents of Dushanbe were detained on suspicion of drug pushing in Jomi district yesterday,” the source said, noting that 2 kilograms of hemp were confiscated from them.

According to him, the preliminary investigation has established that they bought the hemp from local resident for selling in Dushanbe.

All participants in the crime have been detained and criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under the provisions of Article 200 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking.  If convicted, they could face jail terms of 8 to 12 years, the source added.
