DUSHANBE, February 15, 2011, Asia-Plus – Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Sughd province have intercepted a large amount of narcotics.

According to the DCA press service, the drug control officers have followed the organized crime group involved in drug trafficking for several months and an operation carried out on the Khujand-Konibodom highway on February 13 led to the arrest of three members of this group, including two nationals of neighboring Kyrgyzstan.  16 packages containing narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 22 kilograms were confiscated from them.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug traffickers and an investigation is underway.
