DUSHANBE, February 18, 2011, Asia-Plus  – Abudllo Vazirov, a physician from Rasht district, has been arrested on suspicion of not reporting the whereabouts of Alovuddin Davlatov (Ali Bedaki), a militant leader who was accused of killing dozens of Tajik soldiers in an ambush last autumn, a reliable source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

“The investigation has established that Abdullo Vazirov rendered medical aid to Alovuddin Davlatov last autumn, closing bullet wound on his hand,” said the source, “The doctor knew that it was Ali Bedaki but he did not report the whereabouts of Davlatov to police”

According to him, criminal proceedings have bee instituted against Abdullo Vazirov under the provisions of Article 347 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – not reporting crime or misprision of crime.  The main military prosecutor’s office is investigating this case.

We will recall that the 75-year-old Muzaffar Davlatov, the father of Alovuddin Davlatov, was arrested in late January for not informing the authorities about his son’s terrorist activities.

Bedaki”s brother, Husnuddin Davlatov, was arrested in Rasht in mid-September and charged with buying weapons for his brother”s militant group.  Husnuddin Davlatov, a former member of the Rasht legislature and a former member of the Islamic Revival Party, was recently sentenced to 11½ years in prison in January.
