DUSHANBE, April 15, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s science and technology development strategy designed for 2011-2015 was presented in Dushanbe yesterday on the occasion of Tajik National Science Day.

Academician Hakim Ahmadov, Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, noted that the strategy had been worked out with due account taken to modern requirements imposed on science and increase in its significance in the socioeconomic life of the country.

The strategy reportedly consists of eight chapters and 11-point plan of actions and the Academy of Sciences, eight ministries, sectoral academies, universities, research institutes and the country’s commission for accreditation of scientific and research institutions are responsible for implementation of this strategy.

The strategy provides for development and implementation of 30 first-priority production technologies during 2011-2015.

“The strategy aims to create a high-performance system of state support and development of science that will ensure focusing the scientific potential on the directions of scientific researches that are top priorities for our country, speeding up creation of innovative infrastructure and practical use of innovations, inventing competitive technologies, and creating favorable conditions for development of science and education,” the academician said.

On the occasion of Tajik National Science Day, a number of Tajik researchers were awarded for their contributions to development of science and education of young researchers.
