DUSHANBE, April 19, 2011, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have intercepted a large amount of heroin Dushanbe.

According to the DCA press center, an operation carried out by drug control officers in Dushanbe last Sunday (April 17) led to the arrest of a 36-year-old resident of Dushanbe on suspicion of drug pushing. When searching his minivan Hyundai Starex, the DCA officers found several packages containing narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some 10 kilograms.

On the same day, his accomplice – 49-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Jilikul district – was arrested.  The seized heroin was reportedly intended for Kazakhstan.

Criminal proceeding have been instituted against the detained drug pushers and an investigation is under way.
