KHUJAND, May 24, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Specialists from the Antimonopoly Agency’s office in Sughd province jointly with Tojikstandart’s office in Sughd are currently inspecting refueling stations operating in the area.

Tohir Ghafurov, the head of the Antimonopoly Agency’s office in Sughd, says a joint working group is currently working in Khujand and Bobojon Ghafurov district.

“The working group is dedicated to check the artificial shortage of gasoline in the province,” said Ghafurov, “The group is expected to finish its work within the next few days.”

According to him, large fuel suppliers now have 29 refueling stations in the cities of Khujand, Isfara and Istaravshan and Jabbor Rasoulov district alone.

Current price of one liter of 95-octane gasoline in northern Tajikistan is 5.40 somoni, while diesel fuel is currently being selling in the area at 6.00 somoni per liter.

Local liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling stations now sell liquefied natural gas at the rate of 2.70 somoni per liter.
