DUSHANBE, May 28, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajik and Chinese archeologists intend to establish cooperation, according to the Ministry of Culture.

Rahmatullo Rahamtulloyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Culture, told Asia-Plus on Saturday that a group of Chinese archeologists, numbering eight persons, led by Professor Wang Jianxin, Director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology at Northwest University, have arrived in Tajikistan.

“On May 27, Minister of Culture Mirzoshorukh Asrori received visiting Chinese archeologists.  Conducting joint archeological excavations was reportedly a major topic of the meeting.

Professor Wang noted that the purpose of the visit was for the Chinese archeologists to get acquainted with archeological excavations in Tajikistan.

During their stay in Tajikistan, Chinese archeologists will visit Hulbuk Fortress, Ajina-Teppa monument (Buddhist cloister) and excavations in Shahritous district as well as the Hissar Fortress, the spokesman said.
