DUSHANBE, May 28, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The Eco Journalists’ Club has been established in Tajikistan on initiative of Talbak Salimov, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan.

The club members include 20 journalists representing both state-run and independent print and electronic media of the country.

The first meeting of the Club was held on May 27.  The meeting that brought together journalists and senior representatives from the Committee for Environmental Committee discussed issues related to the environmental protection policy.  Journalists were reportedly informed of the environmental management system as well as rights and duties of the Committee.
