KHUJAND, July 28, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Teacher from the Branch of Tajik Technical University in Khujand has demanded 2,300 U.S. dollars from female student for transferring her from the pay tuition department to the toll-free tuition department, the source at the anticorruption  agency’s office for Sughd told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, the teacher, A.A., was caught red-handed yesterday while accepting a bribe of US$2,300 from the student.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt teacher under the provisions of Article 247 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud; an investigation is under way.

The anticorruption agency’s office in Sughd says 30 cases of fraud have been reported in the province over the first six months of this year.
