DUSHANBE, August 19, 2011, Asia-Plus – On Thursday FIFA has made a decision to disqualify Syria from the third round of the Asian 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification. Syria was technically disqualified after two matches against Tajikistan played in July in the frameworks of the second raund, Syrian SANA news agency reports.

According to multiple media reports, Syrian football officials called the decision made by FIFA “unfair” and “politicized”. Syrian football officials are about to lodge a complaint to the international sport arbitrage against the decision. “Authorized lawyer has already started to prepare related documentation,” reports say.

Last week Tajik Football Federation asked FIFA to check if Syria’s decision regarding naturalization of George Murad player corresponds to FIFA’s Charter.

FIFA has considered Tajikistan’s claim and revealed that in 2005 28-year-old Murad was registered as one of players of Swiss national football team and played in two official matches.
