DUSHANBE, August 29, 2011, Asia-Plus — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will pay a working visit to Tajikistan on September 4-5 as it was originally planned, the source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, an agreement on construction of the Ayni hydroelectric power plant with capacity of 150 megawatt on the Zaravshon River in northern Tajikistan will be signed during Ahmadinejad’s visit to Tajikistan.

The Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe says Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is expected to arrive in Dushanbe in the near future and Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani will arrive in Dushanbe in late September or early October.

We will recall that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Iranian counterpart, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, were supposed to participate at a ceremony of introduction of the first unit of the Sangtuda-2 HPP into operation in early September this year but the introduction of the unit into operation has been postponed for at least two months.
