DUSHANBE, October 24, 2011, Asia-Plus — A Tajik labor migrant has been killed in an accident at a construction site in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday.  According to the representative office of Tajikistan’s Migration Service in the Russian Federation, Moscow, a 14-meter tower crane collapsed for unclear reason.

“The crane collapsed at the concrete mixer and as a result of the accident, Tajik national Amirali Sharifzoda, 25, died and another Tajik national, Arash Azizov, 25, sustained inconsiderable injury,” the source noted.

“Shohnazar Tavarov, an officer from the representative office of the Migration Service in Russia, yesterday met with top managers of the construction company, Invest Stroy Yug, which is managing that construction site,” said the source.  “The Invest Stroy Yug executive director, Ms. Nadezhda Mityayeva, said that 500,000 Russian rubles will be paid to the family of Amirali Sharifzoda.”

The Russian company is also financing treatment of Arash Azizov.
