KULOB, October 25, 2011, Asia-Plus  — An armed deserter has been detained in one of villages in Shouroobod district, Khatlon’s Kulob region.

Niyozmad Zaripov, chief of the police station in the Dashti-Jum jamoat, told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon that serviceman of military unit 2931 of the Main Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) who deserted two days ago during the quick march has been detained in one of houses in the village of Kheli Gavora.

The deserter was handed over to his military unit and an investigation is under way.
