DUSHANBE, December 8, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Friday December 9, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will attend a ceremony of opening of the renovated building of the Museum of Geology of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.

“Tajik president is expected to meet with specialists from the Main Geology Directorate and veterans of the geology sector on the sidelines of the museum-reopening ceremony,” Azim Ibrohim, the head of the Main Geology Directorate under the Government of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The national geology development program designed for 2012-2020 that was endorsed by the government in late November will be a major topic of the meeting.

“More than 140.3 million somoni will be allocated from the national budget for implementation of the geology development program aiming at developing domestic base of mineral resources, providing industrial enterprises with domestic raw materials, and reducing the volumes of import of raw materials from abroad,” Tajik chief geologist noted.

To-date, both domestic and foreign investors have expressed readiness to invest a total of some 300 million somoni in development of Tajikistan’s geology, he added.

Azim Ibrohim has expressed confidence that the national geology development program, which is dedicated to improve the material and technical basis of the geology sector in the country, will promote the enlistment of the services of young specialists.
