DUSHANBE, December 29, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Unidentified assailants have reportedly shot an employee of one of currency exchange offices in the northern city of Khujand to death from the Kalashnikov and seized a large amount of money.

An employee of one of currency exchange offices in Khujand, Yuldosh Burhonov, 53, and his 28-year-old son Farhodjon were found shot to death in Burhonov’s car opposite the Chorshanbe Bazaar in Khujand yesterday evening.

The Interior Ministry spokesman Mahmadullo Asaduloyev says that according to the Sughd police directorate unidentified assailants shot Burhonov and his son to death from the Kalashnikov assault rifle.  “There is supposition that the assailants seized a large amount of money.”

The Khujand prosecutor’s office has launched investigation into the incident.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 104 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – murder.

According to data from the Sughd police directorate, 31 murders and eight attempted murders have been reported in northern Tajikistan over the first eleven months of this year.
