DUSHANBE, January 17, 2012 Asia-Plus – The National Processing Center was officially presented in Dushanbe on January 16.

The national processing center provides access to Internet and mobile banking, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Speaking at the center-opening ceremony, Tajik central bank head Sharif Rahimzoda noted that the main purpose of creating the national processing center was ensuring an autonomous payment system platform that would not depend on external payment system minimization of risk of influence of external factors on Tajikistan’s payment infrastructure.

Electronic Payments International reported on October 7, 2011 that Compass Plus, an international provider of retail banking software and online payments systems has revealed that its TranzWare platform has been chosen by the National Bank of Tajikistan in order to build its national processing center.  The development will merge the existing bank’s card acceptance infrastructure in Tajikistan allowing banks to issue bank cards internationally.

Compass Plus has subsidiaries in 28 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and North and South America.
