DUSHANBE, January 19, 2012, Asia-Plus — An enlarged government meeting to review the results of the past year’s work took place in Dushanbe yesterday.

The prime minister and heads of ministries and agencies as well as chairpersons of provinces, cities and districts reported on the results of the work carried out in 2011.

Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, in particular, noted that gross domestic product (GDP) rose 7.4 percent in a year to December 31, 2011, reaching 30.1 billion somoni, which is 5.4 percent more than in 2010.  Inflation for 2011 stood at 9.3 percent.

5.9 billion somoni were reportedly provided last year in loans for development of entrepreneurship.

After report of Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda, President Rahmon pointed to the necessity of strengthening fight against crime and taking adequate efforts to prevent juvenile delinquency.

The head of state ordered relevant bodies to provide support to local entrepreneurs delivering modern technologies and equipment into the country.

The president also ordered to enhance education and health sectors as well as social protection of the population, sports and tourism.

Gorno Badakhshan governor Qodir Qosim noted that more than 43 million somoni of budgetary funds were spent last year for construction of new facilities in the region.  Eleven facilities were built last year and dozens of other facilities are expected to be finished this year.

Rahmon ordered relevant bodies to provide Gorno Badakhshan with high quality potato and wheat seeds and take measures to reinforce embankments and improve roads in Gorno Badakhshan.

Khatlon governor Gahybullo Avzal reported that Khatlon’s DP reached 8.051 billion somoni last year and 42 new industrial enterprises were introduced into operation in 2011.

The head of state expressed dissatisfaction with poor state of some health facilities in Khatlon and ordered to develop a national program for enhancement of the health sector in Khatlon.

Sughd governor Qohir Rasoulzoda reported that 65 new industrial enterprises were built in the province in 2011 and the same number of enterprises will be introduced into operation this year.  He also noted the receipts from local entrepreneurs to the local budget have increased from 23 to 40 percent.

President Rahmon expressed gratitude to Rasoulzoda and the Sughd regional administrators for good work.

Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that 18 new industrial enterprises were introduced into operation in the city in 2011.  According to him, the share of local entrepreneurs in the revenue part of Dushanbe’s budget amounts to some 58 percent.
