DUSHANBE, February 2, 2012, Asia-Plus — A 14-member Tajik cultural troupe consisting of 9 dancers and musician from the famous musical group “Jahonoro” and 5 students from Indian Cultural Center under the Embassy of India, Dushanbe, left for India on February 1, 2012 to participate in the Surajkund craft Mela jointly organized by the Government of India and Haryana Tourism from February 1-15, 2012, according to the Embassy of India in Dushanbe.
The group is headed by Fayzali Hasanov, a famous Tajik singer.
This is the third year in continuation that Tajikistan is participating in this event. The Surajkund Craft Mela began in 1981 and is held from February 1-15 every year at a village “Surajkund” near South Delhi.
The Exhibition showcases finest Handlooms and handicrafts from all over India as well as from different countries of the world. The exhibition attracts millions of visitors from both within India and foreign countries. Musical shows and Folk dances are held every day at open air theater at the exhibition.
