One man died while three injured when ZIL fell into a 40-meter deep ravine in Penjikent.

The accident took place on Tuesday, the Interior Department for Sughd Area told the AP. The driver, a 22-year-old resident of Hurmi jamoat of Penjikent region Uzokboy Yamonkulov was delivering stones from a mountain area which is not designed for such heavy vehicles. As a result the truck fell into the ravine. ZIL’s passenger, a 25-year-old Furkat Nazarov, died in hospital. Other passengers, 14-year-old Kodir Zulfonov and Uralbek Ibrahimov and the driver were delivered to the Penjikent Hospital with multiple injuries.

According to the regional police department, another car accident took place on Tuesday in Kanibadam when Ozod Ergashev, a 28-year-old driver of BMW vehicle lost control over his car at the 25th kilometer of the Kanibadam-Khujand highway and hit the tree. Ergashev died at the scene from multiple injuries.

According to the Traffic Police Department for Sughd area, 44 car accidents were registerd in the past 2 months this year (2011 – 51) in which 24 people have died (2011 – 34) and 41 (2011 – 48) were injured.
