On June 1 the Japanese Dai Nippon Construction launched the second phase of reconstruction of the Dusti – Kurgon-Teppa road.

The opening ceremony, which was held in Kurgon-Teppa, was attended by Tajik Deputy Minister of Transport Jumakhon Zukhurov, Deputy Governor of Khatlon province Abdujabbor Bahodurov, other regional officials and representatives of the Japanese company.

Mr.Zukhurov thanked the Government of Japan for supporting the project. He said that the second phase of reconstruction of the Dusti – Kurgon-Teppa road covers the 18km long and 12m wide section of the road. The project provides for construction of 5 bridges and other supporting objects. The project is estimated at $24mln.

According to the contract signed between Tajik Transport Ministry and the Japanese company, the project will end in late August 2013.

Deputy Transport Minister said JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) allocated more than $70mln for construction of the Lower Pyanj – Dusti – Kurgon-Teppa.
