DUSHANBE, June 11, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office for Sughd province have seized a large amount of narcotics.

An operation carried out by the drug control officers in Khujand on June 10 reportedly led to the arrest of the 36-year-old resident of Khatlon province.  Two packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing more than 3 kilograms were confiscated from him, DCA’s press center reports.

Investigation has reportedly established that the detainee also keeps narcotics in the city of Istaravshan.  Nearly one kilogram of heroin and 11 kilograms of cannabis were found in his apartment in Istaravshan, the press center said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way.
