DUSHANBE, June 13, 2012, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday June 13, President Emomali Rahmon visited Konibodom and Isfara districts in the northern Sughd province.

During his stay in Konibodom, the head of state pointed to the necessity of reconstructing roads in the district.  The president’s official website reports the government will allocate 3 million somoni for repairing 11 kilometers in Konibodom.

Emomali Rahmon also visited the trade and production center, Sozmon, in Konibodom.  The center produces furniture as well plastic and other building materials.  Currently, more than 50 people work for the center.  The center head Dilmurod Otakhonov noted that the center would create 150 other new jobs within the next one year.

The president also inaugurated a new modern school in Konibodom.  The school will accommodate 1,280 pupils who will study in two shifts.  2.1 million somoni have reportedly been spent for construction of this school.

In Konibodom, the head of state also visited the apricot orchard belonging to the Farm named after Enajon Boymatova.  The farm that cultivates 54 apricot varieties produced 5 million somoni worth of dried apricots last year.  It is to be noted that apricot growing accounts for 6.1 percent of the revenue part of Konibodom’s budget.

While visiting the Farm named after Enajon Boymatova, Emomali Rahmon attended the Apricot Festival.  Farmers from all districts of Sughd province have participated in the festival and they have displayed their output at the fair.  Farmers from Konibodom were recognized the best and they were awarded with the prize money of 50,000 somoni.  Gardeners from Isfara took the second place and they were awarded with the prize money of 30,000 somoni and gardeners from the Asht district took the third place and received the prize money of 20,000 somoni.

In Konibodom, Rahmon attended a meeting of regional administrators of Sughd province that reviewed the results of work done in the region over the past five months.

In the Isfara district, President Rahmon visited fruit-processing enterprises and attended the process of allotment of land parcels to vulnerable residents of the Mohpari jamoat.  In the Mohpari jamoat, the president also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a new school.  

On June 14, Tajik leader will observe the final phase of a joint counterterrorism military exercise of member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

We will recall that some 2,000 troops from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are participating in the drills, which have been dubbed Peace Mission-2012.  The exercises have focused on counterterrorism techniques.  The drills, planned to continue until June 14, are being held at the Chorukh-Dairon training ground, some 30 kilometers east of Khujand, the capital of Sughd province.
