DUSHANBE, June 26, 2012, Asia-Plus  – On Monday June 25, new Turkmen Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Chinar Rustamova,  presented a copy of her credentials to Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi.  

The Turkmen Embassy in Dushanbe reports that in the course of the talks, the sides exchanged views on the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The two reportedly also discussed issues related to establishment of peace and national accord in Afghanistan.      

Ms Chinar Rustamova, who had previously served as Counselor of the Turkmen Embassy in New Delhi, was appointed Turkmen Ambassador to Tajikistan on May 25, 2012.  She was given the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

She has become the second woman in Turkmenistan holding diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

In 1995, Ms. Aksoltan Atayeva was given diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.  In February 1995, Ms. Atayeva, formerly Minister of Health, was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations.  Since July 2008, she has also been Turkmen Ambassador to Cuba.
